I realize that is cliché, oft-quoted and out of context but this music truly is /love/ly. This CD reminded me of the time I went to Stratford-Upon-Avon - wonderful memories to bring back - and as I'm studying The Winter's Tale and The Tempest it was fantastic to hear the songs from them, particularly 'When Daffodils Begin To Peer'. Having studied Hamlet last year it was also great to hear Ophelia's songs and, as my favourite Shakespeare is Richard III it was amazing to hear 'Come Live With Me' (used in Sir Ian McKellen's film) as it would have originally been performed. This CD has a great mix of songs from different plays and with different moods - the booklet at the front of the CD is incredibly useful, giving pictures and biographies of the performers of the songs, which play each song is from, when it was written etc. All in all, a sublime CD which I have lent to my English teacher and would recconmend to anyone with a love of Shakespeare (or simply the Elizabethan era).
