Powerful start to a career.

U2's first album starts with the distinctive sounds of I Will Follow, stating the band's ambition and control, a pounding urgency; beautifully produced this first album shows off their muscle through the clarity of each element in the mix. An Cat Dubh goes for a darker, more sinister sound whilst Out of Control kicks off with pace and energy.
However, as the album progresses, fewer tracks stand out. Stories for Boys lacks progression and the album drifts into mediocrity as successive songs follow a similar tempo and Bono's lyrics are lost. Shadows and Tall Trees suggests a more reflective mood but comes too late.
