This reissue of one of Kamelot's defining albums. This re-issue comes with a 2nd CD of live tracks from the tour; which is solid and (unsurprisingly) features many of Ghost Opera's songs. The production on this main disk is a little weak, and the live atmosphere gets lost a little, but its solid if underwhelming as far as live CD's go.
Onto the main album itself, and it opens with an Orchestral piece, which is quite well constructed, before launching into Rule the World which is standard Kamelot fair.
And this this my main issue with this album. After the double-whammy of Epica and The Black Halo, prehaps Kamelot tried too hard to be different. The more ferocious aspects of both those albums are missing, and bar the excellent title track and Love You to Death, most of the songs are unmemorable and plodding.
It's not a bad album; its well produced (as all Kamelot albums are) and carefully constructed. But it lacks character and depth that some of the other albums have. I still recommend this extended edition if you are a fan; the live CD is worth having. If your new, try Epica and The Black Halo first
