Overall Good Buy - But really depends on the child
on 10 January 2010
Bought two of these, one each for my five year old daughter and 3 year old son.
The boy (4 next week) hasnt even opened it yet, claims its boring.....although with all the whizz bang toys he got for xmas im not suprised, so sorry, i cant comment on the suitability for that age range.
My 5 year old girl on the other hand was intrigued, Shes the usual, hannah montannah, HSM, above average in school, thinks she runs the world type of little girl.
We set it up after a bit of probs. Neither my netbook nor my neighbours laptop could download the software from the website to install the audiobook onto the pen reader thingy. I contacted the helpsite, and got a non-sensical response, so we fired up the old desktop when we cleared the wrapping paper bomb site and it worked a treat. Not difficult to use the download or website at all, and once its on the pen then the book just picks it up automatically.
Once up and running she settled down with cat in the hat, tinkerbell, and the book that comes with the pen. She went through each book, i'd say took her about an hour, then she gave me all the things back and said she was bored and what else could she do. She then painted for going on 3 hours !!!!!!!!
I like the product. Its a great idea, easy to use, educational and preferable to some of the useless stuff i did buy her like dollies etc. However, she isnt as impressed as me. She said she likes it, but doesnt luv luv it ???
My humble opinion is if you are considering the toy, and like the idea then it is a good purchase for the £25 that i got it for on here. Im sure it is the type of toy that will long outlast the xmas overkill of toys and re-emerge in march out on the lawn when the weather is nice etc. There is a good range of books to choose from, that can be bought in all the main toy shops.
