Tbis had to be bought just for the wackiness of the concept - organ jazz trio plays DSOTM - mmmmm Nice! Impossibly enough though it is actually truly excellent and wonderful. Played completely "live" as a trio in the studio (no overdubbing, no multi-tracking) it is a considerable feat of inventive, skillful and creative musicianship. The result is spacey and impressionistic, but suffiently grounded in a dream-like warping of the deeply familiar to avoid ever become overwhelmingly abstract. With so much jazz following a limited number of basic formats / conceptions, this provides a genuinely unique and refreshing listening experience.

This is an absolute masterclass in musicianship. Faithful to the essential elements of the originals but full of its own personality. This is a wonderful recording and listeners will hear every cymbal snap, guitar bend, saxophone articulation and Hammond pop or growl just like an up close live performance. I marvel at the loop-like arpeggios set above an organ bass line, and the use of altered scales and soulful improvisations. Wonderful playing and no better homage to the artistry of the original Floyd versions. If you can't appreciate the sound of this then I suggest stop listening to music and take up sewing.

Inventive and inspired playing set in minimalistic concept. Recording is quite live and add to the ambiental feeling of music, it also suit well as reference for sound test of system. Very recommended.

I was prepared for the worst but actually it is quite good - a jazzy interpretation of the Dark Side.

Well recorded (Chesky!) and finely executed it is an easy-listening curiousity.
Surprisingly (for a tribute album) it stands well to repeated listenings, a good piece of work in it's own right.

A keeper.

Like the previous reviewer I came to this with more than a few reservations - bad title, uninspiring cover etc, but was surprised at the subtle approach the group has taken to the numbers. I'm particularly impressed with the Hammond work which acts as a good groove for the soloists to work with. Well worth the listen. And well done Chesky for the great recording quality.

Well This recording of a simple and hopeless experiment with one of rock musics greatest albums, (or maybe it is really a parody), is actually the best proof of what jazz really can be if it derails enough.... An endless boring jamming session. The content of this record are apparently of no significance as long as they give the tracks names that resembles the original work. The music barely touches the original content, and a couple of them do not sound like anything at all. I will not bother returning this record, because I might use it for explaining to people what a bad record sound like.
Meaningless is the best word for this recording.
If you happen to like the original album, then how can you like this one?.
