I've had lots of Hilly socks and most of them have been excellent. The Marathon socks suffer from shrinkage in a big way. When they are new they are great but after each wash they get tighter and harder to put on. I thought it might be because I was washing them in too high a temperature or drying them over a radiator and that caused the shrinkage, so I bought a second pair and avoided the heat. The same thing happened. I even bought the largest size available, which were too big to start with and now they are getting too tight again. In conclusion, great socks for a one off but don't consider them for long term.
Bought these by accident for marathon training. Usually buy the standard cotton type Hilly blister free socks (R&L ) but gave them a try for long runs. I don't hate them but I'll pull any other pair out of the drawer before them. The wool gives that slightly itchy rough texture and they are very warm on your feet though certainly no blisters or major discomfort.Perhaps more useful in the depth of winter. Love Hilly socks but would not choose this pair again
