OS WMR200 - not as bad as some make it sound!
18 February 2016
I bought this weather station in October 2012 after reading endless reviews. The Davies I am sure would have been better but I could not justify the high cost. I am surprised about the many poor reviews which in my experience are undeserved. IN the 3 years the instrument has been functioning faultlessly. After 2 1/2 years I changes all the batteries because I thought that they must be running low, not because there was an issue. My main complaints are a poor interface - the touch-screen needs to be pressed quite hard (hopefully that has been upgraded in the meanwhile) and the software, as others have described, is very poor. Unless the unit is connected to the PC continuously it does not save the data, despite the fact that the unit has a data logger that stores the weather data. Of course this may be an issue with the very very poor manual that comes with the unit. I bought the Virtual Weather software instead and that works fairly well; connect the unit to the PC, run the software and it downloads the data to a wide range of files that can be copied into EXCEL spreadsheets.
All in all I am quite pleased and would consider buying again once this unit fails. It is quite expensive compared to some other units, I can't compare quality and reliability though. A UV sensor should definitely be standard.
