As most other reviews have said, this easily accommodates a hefty 17". However, I've just had to purchase this after owning a Targus TEB01 ... and the Belkin bag is not in the same league. There a couple of things I really miss:

- No mobile phone pocket on the shoulder strap
- No elasticated, restraining fastener on the main compartment ... a big oversight. The laptop just slides around in there. In fact very few of the internal compartments fasten closed so things good quite easily start sliding around.
- No CD holder compartments.
- No easy-access, elasticated side compartments for quickly slipping things into
- No waistband strap for extra security
- It looks more conspicuously like a laptop bag!

The Belkin bag is almost half the price though! And it is definitely spacious, provides good protection and lots of individual storage compartments. Had I not owned the Targus previously I'd probably rated it with 5*

This bag is an absolute bargain!

I bought one for my dell xps 17" and when combined with a sleeve, could not want for more.

I was looking at the likes of the samsonite pillow2 backpack and the Wenger swissgear pegasus. Sure, they are a lot more expensive, but decided to go for this one combined with a quality sleeve for protection of my laptop when carrying to and from uni, home and friends houses.

comfort (4*)-
The shoulder straps are pretty wide and feel like they have been reinforced with a hard flexible plastic, i have pretty broad shoulders and when fully loaded the pack can be pretty weighty, but i haven't had any issues with it digging in and cutting. The actual back support area is quite firm, but not uncomfortable, i presume this is to help with the rigidity of the laptop carrying compartment, so in my books, thats probably a good thing. Personally i would prefer the bag to have waist straps to help distribute the wieght and for added security, but this is just my choice. I can imagine that if the user was a petite female, this bag would be pretty big and potentially uncomfortable, but it is one of the smallest 17" laptop bags around. The styling might make the bag look big and square, but this is due to size and functionality over other things.

Quality (5*)-
the quality of the bag is surprisingly good for ~£20. The actual materials used on the bag are fantistic with quality zips and excellent stitching combined with what appear to be decent materials too, i cant really fault it to be honest. The shoulder straps are pretty good too, although maybe a little more padding would be benneficial. The buckles and pull straps that attatch the shoulder straps to the bag aren't great, they don't feel as strong or secure as some others i have seen, but considering the price point, and the overall quality, i feel this is nit picking. If the bag was £50, then this may be a minor irritation, but at ~£20, i feel that its a tiny point to raise.

Laptop compartment (5*)-
Most 17" laptops are ussually pretty expensive and can be a pain to carry around. This was the reason i was looking at the more expensive end of the market, but threw caution to the wind and purchased this one at less than 1/3 of the price.

Padding is surprisingly good. The actual laptop sleeve in the bag is lined with a velvet type material to prevent scratches, but i would recomend combining with a sleeve anyway for added protection as it doesnt go all the way to the top of the main compartment allowing other things in the main compartment to potentially scratch your laptop, although unlikely. There is about 10-15mm of dense foam padding all around the laptop with a bit more at the sides and bottom edges (something some laptop bags dont have!). The other thing i like about this bag is although it isn't a rigid bag, it is pretty stiff and holds its shape when nothing is in it due to the firm materials and thick, dense padding. This means when your laptop is in it, it is not only secure within, but feels like it is in a safety cell.

As far as dimensions are concerned its pretty good. I have a Dell XPS 17 with a 9 cell battery and it is probably one of the biggest 17" laptops on the market at 42cmx28cmx6cm (at its thickest point). I use a quality sleeve too. If your laptop is bigger than this then i suggest you look elswhere as it is a snug/perfect fit with very little movement in any direction, it holds it still.

Other compartments (5*)-
As my laptop is nearly identical to the size of an A3 pad, i can carry 2 or 3 of these around too, as well as A4 pads, several pencil cases etc etc. With the bag comes a padded pouch for cables. I think this is designed for the power block, but the Dell transformer doesnt fit so i use it for my portable HDD, mouse and graphics tablet accessories. There are other assorted pockets too for bits and bobs and a handy one on the front where i keep a notebook and pen for instant access without rummaging around too much.

Overall i would deffinately recomend this bag!

Style is good and if you are like me (6ft4 male) then it doesn't look too big and rediculous on your back, athough all 17" laptop bags will be similar size.

Impressed with product - wanted something to protect my new 17" Widescreen laptop from usual family hazards (ie childrens sticky fingers /cat hairs)and to stop husband moaning about leaving my power cable lying around. Item was despatched quickly and received in excellent condition. Laptop section has velvet type protection and is well padded. Has a separate bag for securing power cable inside and lots more sections to organise your bits and bobs. Carry handle is nice and wide for going across the body. Only fault - if there is one - is lack of colour choices - love the tourmaline lining but not so bothered about the chocolate - more girly colours needed. However, overall good price for a nice bag.

This bag, as a bag, is very good. Well made, good pockets, good padding. However, I have normal shoulders for a woman and the straps of this bag are too wide and placed slightly too far apart. Hence it is a tad on the uncomfortable side. I wish they would make the 15' one as a normal backpack (1 shoulder cross-strap is so bad for your back), as this bag is also a tad too wide in the body. I have not been able to find a laptop backpack designed for a woman's frame (do they think only men carry laptops?) and this is for sure the best one, for the price, but it still is not ideal.

I chose this bag hoping it would fit my (pretty big) laptop and there is lots of room, but my laptop is still well-cushioned and not moving around.
It's a really nice blue colour in the inside too. It has 4/5 compartments, obviously good for leads/mouse, but also spaces for paper, pens, lead and a phone.
Despite the massive amount of room, it is really lightweight and doesn't feel bulky to carry. The strap is really comfortable too, I would definitely recommend this product.

Had i reviewed this when it arrived ie before usage, i would have given it 5 stars. Great bag, sturdy, good protection for lap top, straps strong and showing no signs of wear and tear after 6 months, plenty of room, squared off top allows for easy closure around square books, folders etc! As this is aimed at students, it should withstand daily usage and mostly it has....except for the zip which has failed after 6 months usage and sadly is the flimsiest part of an otherwise well made bag. Will try to fix up some sort of closure for the bag as it is great in all other ways.
no...failed to mend reluctantly have had to spend another £50 on yet another school bag

It is a cool laptop bag. Good quality bag for everyday use. I'm using the 17'' bag for a 15'' laptop so that I have enough room to carry easily other things, very practical.

Has a lot of features so to speak - places to hold various items.

The inner casing is soft - thus protects your laptop, and fits a 17" laptop with ease - no stress at all.

Would recommend strongly to anyone that has a laptop.
Even if you don't have a laptop, I would still suggest it. It's THAT good!

A good value bag it is discrete enough but the red adds a bit of differentiation to it. There is plenty of pockets for storage and it is robust to protect your laptop. The laptop pocket is soft and provides good protection, I have an MSI GS 60 which is 15 inches, it is snug so I'm not sure of it would be suitable for all 17 inch laptops. Lastly it is not waterproof, while it may withstand a light shower I would not recommend it in heavy rain or sit it on wet ground as water does transfer though quickly.

I go through so many everyday bags and laptop bags to find the one that is just right, at a good price and perfectly practical but still looks decent, and this is that bag.

To address to size issue first, I use a 16.4" laptop with it and the fit is pretty snug, not tight. I can understand how a 17" probably is pretty tight and with it you could fit a charger and maybe a couple of very small accessories at best.

Still, pockets and padding are all the right place, there is a shoulder strap or a handle, both of which look and feel strong (although perhaps could be slightly more comfortable), but in storage both can be tucked away and are unobtrusive. The shoulder strap in particular has a pocket, and is designed to be tucked away as if it isnt there (removing the need to ever detatch it).

Finally, the style is nice. It is smart enough for business but with enough quirk to be used casually and perhaps not even as a laptop bag at all. Either way, it is strong and durable enough to be used for just about anything within fairly tight size constraints.

Really, brilliant value.
