You know what to expect from a Marx brothers film and it doesn't disappoint. Not as full on zany as Duck Soup, but still plenty as daft. I hadn't even heard of it til recently so i expected it to be below par. Far from it. I enjoyed it much more than i expected.

Being the Marx brothers, you have surely one of the cleverest bunch of clowns of all time. Slick variety style routines, always a lot of fun. The added element to this movie were the more easy going and gentle moments. Eg - Harpo playing a weaver's loom (harp) alongside the flute of the Native Americans. Beautiful music. After all that reckless slapstick, those moments felt really quite touching.

Not a classic by critic's standards but a very sweet film in it's own right. Plus the humour is so alive, so care free and in a world of it's own that it hasn't really dated. I much preferred this to Laurel and Hardy's 'Way out west' which apart from the classic musical 'Lonesome pine' scene, seems a little slow and laboured when compared to this.

Fresh, warm hearted and a definitely a must see for Harpo fans.

A lesser known Marx Brothers film but still well worth watching. No, it is not as good as Duck Soup or A Day At the Races (so see them first) and, yes, it does look as if it was filmed on a vacant lot from another film but it still has plenty of laughs and routines to remember. Even a less good Marx Brothers beats most of the competition

Go west 1940 is a underated favourite of mine .Its set in the wild west like laurel and hardys way out west and is not as good as way out west but for a marx brothers movie has not dated , the gags are funny and the whole film is classic with of course the iconic train sequence because its set in the west it only adds to the class of the film even arthur houseman has a cameo in this as the i onic drunk .So in my opinion go west is of the best comedies of all time and has bearable musicals numbers in scenes that dont bore including harpos music scene with the indians and chicos piano scene they are great and the film is 77 minutes of classic marx humour.
