In a world where compilation albums are merely churned out without any thought given to the track listing this album is a breath of fresh air. Charles Webster for the uninitiated is one of the pioneers of house music championing the UK deep house scene for the last 20 years or so and it's hard to believe that for a dj and producer who has been around for so long that this is his first compilation but it's certainly worth the wait. Disc 1 is a beautifully crafted 11 track mix of deep house - cleverly finding tunes that would clearly rock a crowd at the right place and time but equally can provide a late night soundtrack for chilling too. Disc 2 is called 'Lounge' and is a stunning eclectic choice of tunes from D'angelo through to The Cranberries via Brian Eno. An incredible listen. Disc 3 is 'studio' and this is where Charles is given free reign to showcase exclusive and unreleased versions of his work -slick downtempo beats and cool deep house. This album is a joy to listen to - and is highly recommended. Enjoy!

from a man who has been in the industry 20 years or so, i would have expected something quite out of the ordinary, pulling on his numerous collaborations with some of the best in the business. But not so. What we have is a mediocre selection of laclustre vocal house on the 1st disc, not in-keeping with the majority of sets that he has played in various clubs over the years. The 2nd disc is supposedly an after hours selection, which starts well enough, then wanes, and degenerates into an abstract sounding mush. The 3rd disc however is this compilations saving grace...with some beautiful tracks and some remixed classics too. Not all bad then!!?? for people who have heard charles play out in clubs, this is somewhat of a departure from his normal sound. defected would have been better off giving people a club mix, and a proper deep after hours mix too...

can fault this cheeky little number from the man Charles Webster - pure audio sex from the master himself. This is just perfect for those summer days or indeed those chilled out nights, deep groovy and soulful get strapped in and enjoy the ride - I did! =)

This three box cd is just great. Chilled out tunes for a lazy sunny weekend. I have since brought this for family and friends as presents and everybody loved it. I think listening to this is like reading a very good book. It's like it's telling you a story. Well done Mr Webster, I am a massive fan. Buy this cd is all I can say, I promise you won't regret it.

If you have Born on the 24th of July or Remixed on the 24th of July you may find this a little disappointing. There are a couple of tracks on CD 3 - Studio which are worth a listen but the best of the rest you would have heard already.

What a superb box set of soulful deep house tunes. Another classic album from the man himself.. Perfect mixing, can't stop playing it. You will find you listen to it more each time you play it... Brilliant..!

nobody mentions that in the middle of every song there is a voice saying -defected presents charles webster- that obviously destroys every song
