So many bands are labelling themselves as deathcore these days that is has become yet another sub-genre deluged with mediocre bands. But one of the early bands to fuse hardcore and death metal were this Canadian 5-piece. This is their 3rd release (I think) and easily their best. Heavy as hell, inventive and demanding of repeat listening you will love this album. Their sound is hard to describe but imagine if grind bands like Napalm Death and Brutal Truth were covered by hardcore bands like Hatebreed or Ion Dissonance and you have the quality that is Despised Icon.

For those of you looking for something new and exciting, but more importantly heavier than a list of Jade Goody's bad points, then please buy this album.

Fans of Beneath the Massacre, Ion Dissonance, As Blood Runs Black, Job for a Cowboy, From a Second Story Window, See You Next Tuesday, All Shall Perish, Hatebreed, Napalm Death, Brutal Truth, Cephalic Carnage etc will truly appreciate this album! Buy it.

In short this is an insane band and this cd and extra`s are very good, but I think that as it near`s the middle to end of the cd I think it falls slowly to the ground, I was dissapointed and was wanting it to pick itself back up but it did`nt seem to, good first half and extra`s, worth a purchase.

I normally prefer more melody in my music But this just rocks in every way it really does. There is no singing but there is a mixture of Growls , shouts and pig squeals and they are cool they kind of go with the breakdowns and it makes it, for me anyway catchy. Furtive monologue has a great breakdown pig squeal sequence
