This is perhaps the best reason for Jason receiving his "lifetime achievement award" from the Entertainment Industry, since he has shown that other histrionic side to his character for being able to take on one of Dicken's most likeable rogues and in fact do so throughout the entire drama!

It is always a difficult thing for someone other than the original author spin off a single character from an esatblished book. Here it is done with grate success and the writers were obviously out to mine the possibilities of Micawber being a dep, warm individual. The difference with this Micawber and the tavesty that W C Fields once inprinted on the screen is huge and David Jason makes the character his own without losing the real feel of the character. Very entertaining with good production values, it is not great but it definitely earns a place in the "DVD's to watch more than once" category

There is no doubt that this is a very entertaining and humorous version of Micawber, one that only David Jason could produce. His acting, together with that of his co-star Annabelle Apsion, make this a memorable production. Not to be overlooked is the detail and realism that is injected into the background scenery and props. The stories become a little bit repetitive, however, perhaps because the writer did not want Micawber to escape from his debt-filled existence even though he is portrayed as a quick-thinking and intelligent man. The writer clearly had future episodes in mind. On the whole, though, this is a very entertaining video.

This is an enjoyable romp based on the much-loved character created by Charles Dickens.Curmudgeonly critics might say
there is too much of the Del boy in David Jason's portrayal of Micawber,to which I would say "Humbug!" Particularly enjoyable
is the laugh-out-loud courtroom scene where Micawber defends himself against his creditors.Marvellous! To anyone with a
sense of humour I would say,"Buy it! "

David Jason - what can I say - A true Legend and as with anything he has done, it can be watched over and over and be enjoyed each time.
It arrived prompt and securely and takes pride of place next to my D.V.D Player so I can access it quickly

A very enjoyable period drama. D J plays an excellent Micawber. Not up to W C Fields but very entertaining.
