on 30 March 2009
LILIES OF THE FIELD -POITIER AS HOMER WON AN OSCAR ,he playsa itinerant man wandering the midwest who comes to help 5 immigrant polish nuns and this becomes a delightful comic drama with serious overtones about the relationship between man ,religion ,individual and community .ralph nelson has made a buoyant ,spiritual and delightful classic both meaningful and entertaining .
IN THE HEAT OF NIGHT -this won 5 oscars and is a noir thriller where poitier plays a forensic homicide detective ,mr .tibbs to rod steigers racist small town sheriff,as together they investigate a murder to find the truth .
it is a racial satire and a mystery thriller showing a typical southern milieu in sixties america .
THEY CALL ME MR.TIBBS-this is the sequel to inthe heat of night where poitier as a detective solves a murder mystery in san francisco .
matin landau co -stars in a baffling mystery which winds like a rat maze and frienships are put to test as the 2 friends playing the leads become suspicious of each other .
ORGANIZATION -a drug trafficking thriller where mr.tibbs -sidney poitier fights a drug syndicate in a brilliant action movie co-starring raul julia .
the 4 discs have lilies of field as the best feature without any extras -but the tibbs TRILOGY has the originaltheatrical trailer .
i like the 4 movies as they show poitier across 20 years of his prime time career in diverse roles with very talented co stars in all 4 movies .
