I have all low energy hallogen bulb fittings in my house apart from the hall.
The Hall light (an old fashioned 'bad for the environment' bulb) has now outlasted every other bulb in the house (some of which have been replaced 3-4 times over the same period).
The hall light is probably used the most as there is no natural light to the hall.
We have been sold a dummy with energy saving bulbs, pretty much like every other green innovation. They don't work, they are more expensive and they aren't better for the planet.
If you want to reduce energy consumption and save the planet, the most effective way is by not having any children.
