Disc one in the now quite cheap Complete Cracker box set is this intro to Fitz and his zany ways. Unorthodox, radical, flawed, ruthless; he's them all. And bloody good at his job.

The Mad Woman in the Attic is nearly 20 years old now and is a graphic as they come and totally unflinching when it comes to show the result of a razor to the neck of a young girl on a train.

Directed by Michael Winterbottom, who's firmly established as a major director in his own right nowadays, it features an early and major role for Christopher Eccleston, as the cop who never sees eye to eye with Fitz. An interesting story about the amnesiac (played by Adrian Dunbar) accused of her murder but who obviously, maybe conveniently, cannot remember doing it.

To my shame, I have never watched Cracker before, this was first time. Thoroughly enjoyed it, and Robbie is grrrrrreat in the role! Brilliant! Will be catching up with the others! <ee>

Another slightly sad, but also amusing and definitely gripping insight into the fascinating mind of Fitz.

Received my copy of this DVD only to find that the DVD was rattling around in the box and all the papers etc which should have been inside were missing !! Exterior of box dirty and difficult to close. Am unable, of course, to pass this DVD on to anyone as a gift !!
