Batman the Animated Series unfortunately wasn't something i discovered during my childhood on saturday mornings, i in fact found out about this series when i was about 13, i loved the whole Batman mythology so back then i was delighted to hear they made a cartoon series! (i loathed that series called "The Batman" made a few years ago, the villians were slightly out of character, their voices weren't right and the art style was just too weird) so i as soon as i found an old vhs containing 2 episodes of the Animated Series (which had the Riddler as the main villian, one of my top favourites in the rouges gallery!) i dived in and found (in my opinion) the best and definitive incarnations of the characters i fondly remember reading in the comics from my brother's collection, the series was so mature, well written and the voice acting is still superb!, i highly praise Kevin Conroy who i consider to be the best Batman (and also used a casually dark voice for Batman and a lighter but equally sophisticated voice for Bruce Wayne!, genius!!) and Mark Hamill who i gladly give the title (in my opinion) of The Best Joker! (his voice was perfect and that's an understatement!) i cannot praise this series enough!

£5 (at the time i ordered it) for this set is one of the very few bargains of the century especially for a Batman fan like me, it just pains me that WB haven't got round to releasing vol 3 and 4 for region 2, i doubt they'll release them any time soon, but i'll be really glad if they prove me wrong!

I have fond memories of these cartoons from when I was a child. The animation, storyline, action all muster in to one. Set against the truely dark backdrop of Gotham city's gritty untone, these cartoons take right to the heart of the story and the character. You have not had the pleasure of viewing these truely brilliant cartoon then I recomend you do. If you've already seen them then I need say no more.

This collection contains some of the best episodes of this amazing series. The Plots are great, the action are fierce and it aculally feels like batman, ( The Batman is such a secondrate replacement. Highlights include "Jokers Wild" "Almost Got Im" "The Man who killed Batman" and "Harley And Ivy". Its annoying that volumes three and four arn't avalible in the uk, but im going to look on itunes and see if there on there. Great series and what great animation should be.
