this little garden is fun to watch as it "grows",snow on the hills one day, pink blossom on trees the next etc,but we had a job getting it to stay upright to begin with.the trees & fences fell over & the mountain wouldn't stay still, fine after a few minor adjustments. once the liquid has been added,DON'T TOUCH IT,as bits will fall off & you will lose the tree blossom etc. great fun, colourful & interesting for young & old alike.
I remember having these magic crystal kits when I was a kid. Younger children may need help to position the card shapes onto the base tray. The crystals start to grow fairly quickly and over a couple of days it is soon transformed into a really pretty Japanese style landscape which lasts for ages if you look after it. Definitely a fascinating 'look but do not touch' toy which needs to be put away from a draught and where it cannot be knocked over.
One bit of advice, the crystal growth may be quite random at first but do not be tempted to move the mountain or trees to soak up more liquid, it will even out and yes pretty crystals will grow on all sides of the trees and the mountain.
It's so basic, a plastic tray, some cardboard and a few bags of fluid. But when you see it slowly 'growing', you can't help but smile. I've bought a few magic trees for the kids and they still love them, this is the first magic garden.....but not the last. Easy to do, great fun and worth ever penny, you just can't go wrong.
SUPERB! Nice when something matches or exceeds expectations. A little fiddly to place the bushes. I used a stapler to help. The trees tended to fall over so you might want to make them more secure. One tree regrew after an accident! The snow takes longer to appear. The liquid is simply poured in the trays and soaks up (not clear in instructions)
