The latest offering from Germany's version of gothic rockers HIM. Filthy Notes For Frozen Hearts has been said to have potential to be better than Razorblade Romance!!! Well, lets listen and see....
The opening track of the album, My Velvet Little Darkness, lays down what the rest of the album is about. Riffs, melodic yet deep vocals, melodies and beautifully written and composed songs that show and define what gothic rock is all bout!
Again It's Over, the first single of this album is next and shows more of the same beautiful riffs and crafted with smooth rock beats and melodic sections to the song. Superb!
The vocals complement the music perfectly and the production of the songs is brilliant, but then we shouldn't expect anything less than this when it is produced by John Fryer (who has produced albums for HIM, Paradise Lost and Cradle of Filth).
No Dear Hearts is another track on this album which will have you swaying and your head nodding to the beats. Filthy Notes follows which is another must listen on this album. Full of superb beats and riffs again, supplemented by an excellent vocal and head nodding chorus!
A bit faster paced song follows entitled Sweet Caroline. You will definately be singing the chorus to this one and is sure to be a favourite amongst the fans!
To Love Her On Knees has a truly excellent choral section both vocally and musically. Nearing the end of the album, the first real slow song appears entitled Sad Theme For A Marriage. Very melancholic and soft in appearance yet still worthy of a listen.
At the end of the album, the songs are solid and continue to create beautifully crafted songs with heavy riffs and chances to do some head nodding. This is a superb album by Lacrimas Profundere. They have done an excellent job with the songs and the production.
And I have to agree that Filthy Notes For Frozen Hearts has the potential to be better than Razorblade Romance and in my opinion its a close call but this edges it for me. HIM better watch out because if Lacrimas Profundere keep on writing excellent music like this, they will take over the top spot as Gothic Rock's best it has to offer! Awesome and let's hope for more of the same in the future!
