Not Quite What The Doctor Ordered...
on 28 August 2017
I actually have all of the other dvd volumes of this series, which, I think is by far the best one since the reboot of the series, because the chemistry between Rose and the Doctor is just fantastic. I didn't like this volume quite so much because the two parter featuring the ood people didn't really set the heather on fire for me, and as for the Love and Monsters episode, you hardly see Rose and the Doctor in it. I do recommend getting all of the other series two episodes though, because they are all very well thought out, from storylines, to direction, to the acting, especially the series finale with Torchwood being the setting of the Battle Royal between the cybermen and the daleks. I don't think any other series of Doctor Who has managed to truly top this one. They already had a winning formula here, then it all went to the wall. I also loved the episodes, The Christmas Invasion, School Reunion, when K-9 saves the day, and Fear Her, where life imitates art through the drawings of a young girl. When you compare the series two reboot to subsequent series, you'll see what I mean. It's three stars for this particular set of three episodes, but five stars for the rest!
