We went to see Fish perform during the Return to Childhood tour 2005 and, even though Fish had a dreadful cold on the night, I have to say that the gig was still superb.

This recording was obviously made on a night when Fish and his band were in good health and on top form, as one would expect, and as a result is a brilliant reminder of what Fish is able to give the audience on a good night.

Well worth the money for anyone who has fond memories of both this and the original Childhood tour with the 'proper' Marillion all those years ago.

I agreed with [...]. Sound quality is shameful. The "Recital of the Script" (a Marillion video from 1982) has even better sound track. I'm so sad. This performance would have deserved better sound ...
For your information: Colour standard of this DVD is NTSC and not PAL.

How many times have you bought a 'Live' recording only to find that it's another quick money spinner for a band too worn out or so far down their creative paths that it's really just been a waste of your hard earned money? THIS COULD NOT BE DIFFERENT! I was among the army of freaks all those years ago when we first heard the gossamer shimmer of piano that led us into Lavender, thrilled to Steve Rotherays soaring guitar on Kayleigh and gazed, dumbstruck, at a band who had emerged fully fledged onto the World Stage and all these years later (regrettably without the original band) the strength, power and passion are still there. Fish's voice has, if anything, matured and life has knocked the few rough edges off what was already a polished delivery leaving us with a multi faceted diamond of an album. The first CD is all his later work (mysterious, angry and exultant)and demonstrates the true verstility of the 'new' band and Fish himself, the second is 'Childhood' in all its' majesty. One of the nice things about this magnificent double album is that it is presented in exactly the same way as the tour was. Fish had teased for years with just the hint of an intro when playing live...was that Heart of Lothian? Could this be Kayleigh? Surely that's Pseudo Silk Kimono? and, intil now, the answer was invariably a wry Fishy smile and change of tune - having played his audience like an expert angler with a prize catch now he delivers a tour-de-force performance. This should cement his place in the hearts of the huge fanbase that he has so richly come to deserve but should also wake the next generation to the power and precision of one of the last great Warrior Poets. Bravo Maestro, Bravo!

Great stuff! Fish's solo stuff is hit and miss, but despite the rough edge to his voice, this grabs from the start. Great backing band.

Misplaced Childhood in its entirety is played in its grand glory, and while it may lack a certain, ahem M factor, it's a bloody good show. Makes you wish you were there.

While the picture quality and the concert itself is OK it has one (very) serious flaw - sound. There's no DD5.1 audio mix! Yes, that's true - a concert recorded in 2005 has only a DD2.0! And unfortunately it's a poor flat-sounding radio-quality stereo I would expect from a bootleg, and not from an official release. What a shame!

And one more thing - it's an NTSC disc, not PAL.

For anyone who has or are considering checking out the 3 starred reviews, please take them with a pinch of salt.
This is a CD (audio only), not the DVD that the two 3 star reviews are based on. As a result the reviews are clearly misleading
and not at all helpful in reviewing this CD since the 3 star reviews are talking about poor audio quality on another, DVD based product.

I can't comment on this particular CD but I can say the quality of all Fish's audio CD's have been premium recordings, can't flaw them :)
I hope this is at least as good as all his other works :)

Awesome recording of pivitol tour of Misplaced Childhood. Take no notice of the 3 star comments as they are reviews of the DVD which is available. The CD release is a superb recording of a brilliant Fish performance.
