The album got here in plenty of time. My girlfriend will love it!

A run-of-the-mill second single from the over-hyped black-clad hipsters disappointing third album, 2006's First Impressions Of Earth. The bleakly titled 'Heart In A Cage' finds the group laying down a driving new wave rock groove whilst rather less convincingly vocalist Julian Casablancas half-heartedly croons some listless lyrics ("Help me I'm just not quite myself"). It is backed by just one song - a relatively faithful cover of late-period Ramones' 'Life's A Gas' (right down to the signature hiccupping style of their singer Joey Ramone). This exclusive Radio 1 session version for Zane Lowe provides a rather unnecessary acknowledgement of the debt The Strokes owe to the 1970s New York punk scene.
