Anyone into House, Disco, and dance music in general simply must hear this.

Among a few special others Larry Levan was one of the original pioneers of the mix. One of the first DJ's to connect one track to another by lining up the beats giving it a seamless cross over from one track to another.

It's great to hear where it all began and how those early pioneers selected and mixed the disco tracks.

But what is also superb about this mix is the amount of early disco tracks that have been used to create modern well know house music. Disco really is the root of modern house and you can hear all the original classics here.

Track choice is top class and gives you a feel of what it must have been like spending a night in the Paradise Garage. The mixing is faultless too.

Larry Levan is owed a huge debt by all the house heads and clubbers out there today. So buy this out of respect to the original godfather.

Rhino has been on a bit of a cheap streak in recent years, but this is a first class issue that belongs in any collection of disco deep cuts.

A good many of these cuts got a lot of radio play and charted, so it's not like the really deep cuts that have been surfacing in recent years. At the same time, it's good to hear stuff you heard at one time and mostly have forgotten existed. Some are even making their CD debut.

Great graphics on the jacket, really nice pastel colors used.

I only wish Rhino would find more of this kind of main-stream yet deep material. It comes in a real plastic jewel case that is uncustomary for Rhino in recent years, although this was issued all the way back in 2006. This issue is as important as the Soul of Disco, Deep Disco Culture, Supafunkanova, Under the Influence, Soul Cal, and the like. Get it while you can.

Wow, I saw this cd on whilst purchasing A Tom Moulton Mix cd.

I have to say that the track listing is amazing. By far the best Larry Levan compilation out there. The fact they have included Taking Heads & Yazzo shows what the Garage was all about. Long before I even heard of the Paradise Garage, I only new Mr Levan as a remixer by reading the record labels.(Some of these tracks where produced or remixed by the man himself).I have to admit that I already own these records. So this cd isn't much use to me. But I would say this is essential to anyone who doesn't and loves music to groove to.

Excelente producto !
Versiones originales.
Original versions.
The Track 05 on cd 1 "We got the funk" is longer than the original 12" inches, already 2 minutes, Great!
But the track 8 on same cd, "Heartbeat" is the same than the ZYX production on The west end story" is transfered from vinyl to cd, If you are a good listener, you can notice the transfer.
You can get the original "Heartbeat from Real Master tapes on the BBR MASTERS from Taana gardner !! Take a Look Collectors !!!
