Outstanding performance by Val.

Val Kilmer has this great ability to catch the essential ingredients of a role when playing a flawed character, such as the sickly but dangerous Doc Holliday in Tombstone - The Directors Cut [DVD] .
He plays John Holmes here;selfish,a drugie,a liar, weak and easily manipulated and a 'freak'.
Kilmer is outstanding as the legendary porn star who reputably insured his member for 14 million dollars---"1 million dollars an inch" according to Holmes himself, and none of us who watched him in the 70's and 80's would disagree.
In 1981 he was involved in a crime where several friends of his,all drug users and pushers, were beaten to death by a rival gang.
Whether Holmes was directly responsible is the subject of this fictional account,as none were ever convicted of the crime.
The director,James Cock sorry James Cox,gives us 2 versions of the murders, both based on accounts by potential witnesses---Holmes himself and another member of the gang who escaped execution because he was temporally away from the 'massacre' house.
Its an interesting film but not easy to follow as there is so much loud music in the background.I was grateful that my dvd had subtitles Wonderland (Limited 2-Disc Edition) [Region 1] which is available on Amazon and OK if you have a player that can play Region 1 discs.
