When the government spray an experimental herbicide over a forest meanwhile a group of people who are growing dope in the forest get covered in the stuff and turn into flesh hungry zombies.

Toxic Zombies, aka- Forest Of Fear the title used here in the UK when it was banned as a video nasty- is a fairly average zombie film. The gore being a zombie picture you would think was going to be strong with blood, guts and severed limbs everywhere, but it has to be said it isn't an overly gory movie, yes there is violence but not I would say worthy of being banned. The biggest problem with the film is boredom, you just can't shake the feeling of I seen this done before (and better), there isn't anything to set this apart from any of a dozen similar films. Acting wise this is very poor, first & last time director/actor/producer/writer Charles McCrann is OK in the lead but no more, John Amplas (Martin) is badly underused and the others aren't great. The writing and plot is standard horror fare, sane people chased by zombies & corrupt government officials , the climax is the best part of it but like the rest of the movie it is not scary and sadly forgettable.

A watchable 90 minutes just don't expect a classic.

Though poor John (Romero's Martin) Amplas doesn't get much time as one of a duo of police officers tracking the 'zombies' of the title, it's fun to watch his shocked expression throughout.
A gang of hippies secretly growing 'herbs'deep within the forest of the films other title. Most of the gang are sprayed with an experimental pesticide and become marauding flesh eaters.
A family become trapped and must find a way out of the forest.
It's great entertainment if you like throwaway gory 80s time wasters. The script is not the central thing, nor is the acting, but it has enough moments to be recommended. Has deserved this re-release for a long time.

I'm sure you know exactly what your getting with a 70's video nasty called Toxic Zombies so I'm not going to say much about this crazy little film. I will however point out that this edition of the film hasn't been remastered so don't expect a particularly good looking print. It doesn't really make too much difference with a film like this though, but you have been warned. This film looks it's age, which in a way, almost adds to the charm.
