Don't get me wrong. Regardless of the borderline mediocre final two seasons, I give this show FIVE STARS. It redefined the teen soap and gave voice to a whole generation. I have countless fond memories of this show and the characters, while maintaining an obnoxious facade, were very likeable. I have two big complaints about this DVD collection:
1.- The MUSIC: a big part of the nostalgia and excitement to watch the show again were the great songs. But I think about 70% of them have been replaced by generic indie pop, which is just too sad. So no Cry Ophelia, no Shawn Mullins, not even friggin' I Don't Wanna Wait for most of the show. Although you can actually hear the original songs if you change to the foreing language tracks, the only language in which they're missing is English. Because of course which English-speaking person would be a fan of Dawson's Creek. One point less.
2.- QUALITY: A couple of the DVDs didn't play at all, which out of 34 is kinda acceptable but not really. One more point less.
Verdict: This is the only way for now to enjoy this great show so don't let my complaints deter you from buying it. You'll still enjoy it, but it could have been so much more.
NOTE: do not, I repeat, DO NOT buy the series finale separately. It is also included in this collection, the great director's cut with vital deleted scenes included, and a fantastic commentary by series creator Kevin Williamson.
