There is a wealth of quality material here and it isn't a hotchpotch of genres which means the album doesn't lose a listener's interest every other song - they're all good songs, surprisingly so, and they appeal to lovers of rock ballads, 80's rock and quality MOR. I'm into heavy rock, blues and some metal but I still have my quieter moments and this boxset is absolutely worth the money, no question. Cheesy title, yes, but just look at the contents! For once one of these 'greatest album in the world ever'-type compilations comes up trumps. Full-length album version of Bat Out Of Hell too, not the single edit!

These compilations are nearly always packed with many favourite artists and
their songs, definitely 'Air-Guitar' music.
This 3-CD collection will get your feet tapping for sure, it gives a strong selection
of 'Rock' numbers we've all had occasion to dance too down the years.
As is often the case there are big-names missing, however there are many of the
names one first thinks of on these Power-Ballad selections, just, again to give an idea
of what's on offer i'll list just a few of the great sounds from each disc......Disc One.....
'Queen' --'We Are The Champions'........'Foreigner' --'I Want To Know What Love Is'...
.....'Mr Mister' --'Broken Wings'.......'Tina Turner' --'We Don't Need Another Hero'.......
'Meat Loaf' --'I'd Lie For You' (And That's The Truth)........'Alice Cooper' --'Poison'.....
and.......'Maria McKee' --'Show Me Heaven' ......just an example of the 17 great tracks
on disc one........on disc two........'The Cars' --'Drive'........'Chicago' --'Hard To Say I'm
Sorry'........'R.E.M' --'The One I Love'.......'The Rolling Stones' --'Streets of Love'........
'Nilsson' --'Without You'........'Frankie Goes To Hollywood' --'The Power Of Love'.......
and........'Nazareth' --'Love Hurts'.......again just some of the terrific tracks harboured
on disc two........on disc three........'Europe' --'The Final Countdown'.......'Billy Idol' --
'White Wedding'.......'Paul Carrack' --'Don't Shed A Tear'.......'4 Non Blondes' --'What's
Up'........'T'Pau' --'China In Your Hand'........and.......'Mike and the Mechanics' --'Over
My Shoulder'.......again just a random selection of the magic on-board disc three........
I've simply and randomly selected half a dozen or so tracks from each of the three CD's
on this compilation as a guide to whether or not you decide to check out the complete
track list.
Obviously as is the case with myself you'll have many if not all the numbers on-board
however, here we have many favourites in a different track order and selection to other
compilations we may have..
This Compilation has been around for a while, however if your looking at it for the first
time I'm sure you'll agree that it's a great selection of 'Power-Ballads' on-board, and just
maybe worth adding to your collection.
(One Criticism I often have with these compilations that include songs like 'Meat Loaf's'
'Bat Out Of Hell' is that they never seem to ever give the complete version, the last verse
is usually absent, however, on this collection...Good News....the last verse is on-board)

The best in the POWER BALLADS SERIES. Its 50tracks, 17, 17, & 16tracks. This 50track 3cd box cost me less than £2 so a bargain. I have to say that AMERICAN ANTHEMS 3CD BOX is better and has alot of the same tracks but others that make it a better soft rock box. That aside this is still a good 50track 3cd box for less than £2.

Oh dear - the lights are on but there are only the usual people home! Most of these songs appear in most other compilation albums of the same type. Little innovation in the selection, a lack of variety, hardly any initiative, yet the punters keep on buying it, so it must be keeping somebody happy!

i bought this 3years ago very good all songs are in fulllength not like other complications where the song is just coming to the end when another track comes on immediatley there is no gaps between songs.like a lp where you have 3to 5 seconds of wait for a next track. i dont like complications who cant have the songs in full. a cd can only take eighty minutes of music so why cram in 1oo songs on a 3 disc box set and not get to hear them in full.anyway back to the best of power ballads these songs are from the 80s and a few from the 90s excellent choice. i know a lot of compliations tend to repeat songs over and over thats why record companies keeping doing on their lables to make money.and give value at the same time.

i would recommened this album to anyone who are into rock ballads and love songs.

Bought this as a joke present for my husband last year after a weekend watching 'top 100 power ballads' on TV. We do actually listen to it on long car journeys and became the soundtrack to our trip to the south coast in 2010!

Usually I am very pleased with my Amazon purchases. Unfortunately, the cd the very best of power ballads, did not meet expectations. I purchased it new but the first song on the 1st cd was scratched and jumps quite a lot. It didn't even get to the end of the song. I would like to return it and get a new one which is what I paid for.

Arrived through normal post and good condition. Most of these songs are on American Anthem but still a great cd to sing out loud to. Great buy and recommend for music lovers.

There's something about these songs that when you hear a snip of one you long to hear the whole song and it never lives up to the memory. Good for driving to.

I was very impressed with this CD, as I love all of the driving music compilations, so buying this was a great asset to my collection. Thank you.
