While this album contains a generous glut of tuneful and engaging alt/rock songs, I am hard pressed to find a track comparable to the best of their previous two releases. It sounds more like a confident debut album from a band well on their way to crafting such songs as "80 Windows", "Inside of Love", "Paper Boats" and others. However, the fact that many of these new tunes have been playing in my head these past few days suggests maybe there is a magic here I've yet to uncover.
This is the real deal - sweet stuff, that could teach no-hopers like the Foo Fighters and Ash a lesson in good solid songwriting. It grabs you straight away - if you heard this on the radio, it would make your day. Instead you have to run and turn off the dismal sound of Grohl.
