So Turbonegro return to the studio after the relative critical and commercial success of Scandinavian Leather to create Party Animals their 6th album. When I bought this album I had already bought Apocalypse Dudes and Scandinavian Leather and was immediately disappointed with the more commercial direction that the band had taken on Party Animals. Scandinavian Leather was a good album but I did not like the more commercial rock sound it had taken on board. The thing about Ass Cobra and Apocalypse Dudes that made them such great albums was the urgent punk spirit they contained. They were hard, rocking, partying albums with plenty of Denim, Guitars and Attititude. You could almost smell the Brut on singer Hanks sideburns. They were COOL albums dude, just leave your Green day cd's at home fella this stuff is the real deal.

So don't get me wrong, Party Animals is a rocking album... but is just missing a certain coolness from previous albums. It has a few moments, "All My Friends Are Dead' (classic Death Punk) 'City Of Satan' (think Led Zeppelins slow stomping Kashmir with a kick ass horn outro ) and 'High On The Crime' (its the Rolling Stones with a kick up the arse) are highlights, but things gets a bit too obvious with 'Blow Me Like The Wind' you can only assume this is an attempt to please the Blink 182/MTV loving punk-poppers.

To sum up then: over-produced and attitude-less. Shame on you Turbonegro for selling out. I love you but you have to do better than this on your next album please! PLEASE!

As soon as i heard that Turbonegro were coming out with another new album, i knew that it would be great...And it is! When i heard scandinavian leather i thought that nothing would top that, but i was wrong! All my friends are dead is brilliant! But then is everything that turbonegro does is great, it's hard punk rock with a fun loving attitude! If this isn't already in your cd collection...Buy it NOW!

Ass Cobra! Scandanavian Leather! Apocalypse Dudes! Three amazing albums which rocked! Then .... errrm party animals? It starts limply with a skit on Stephen Hawkings which goes no where and then features 3 or 4 decent songs (High on the crime, all my friends are dead, wasted again - anymore?) and some real howlers. Some are average. Some really stink! Is it worth buying? Yes - because there's three great songs and also it's Turbonegro but this is the start of the end. Retox incidently (the latest) is worse.
