Thought this would be a great rack for quick mounting of bikes!!

Thought this would be a good rack for carrying our 3 mountain bikes.
Was easy to fit and sat nicely on the car (ford focus). Then I started to realise it wasn't as well a designed rack as i had expected. The first bike to try was a full suspension mountain bike. Found it very awkward to get the bike frame over the ridged plastic straps which are fitted to the rack, the rear suspension mounted on the cross bar didn't help but the straps i found were very awkward and got in the way. On securing the bike with the straps i found they were not easy to tighten on the frame and after pulling all 3 as tight as i could get them, i still needed extra straps to stop the bike swinging and hitting the car. May just be on my particular model of car, but the pedals get very close if not touching the back of the car, which left me with damaged paintwork after a 40 mile trip.
Also tried a woman's mountain bike which did not sit well on the rack and had the same problem with the straps getting in the way. I believe you can buy a bar to fit to a woman's bike to create a straight cross bar, but on this particular bike (cube access WLS) this would not help.
Been out a few times with only the one bike on the rack and it holds it quite stable with an extra couple of stretchy straps. May take a bit of getting use to but already thinking of taking the ratchet straps of the rack all together and just using my own straps. Or i may even just go and buy a cheaper basic rack that bikes just slide on and off.
This rack may have some good sales patter but in my eyes its no where near the mark.
