The brothers Elric continue their search for the Philosophers Stone but first Ed must complete his first official assignment as a State Alchemist, inspecting a mine in a backwater village that is in the grip of corrupt officials and leads to Ed becoming known as a hero of the people. Episode ten has the brothers returning from the events in the first two episodes of the series and taking a detour to a popular tourist destination. Unfortunately the town is under the grip of a cat burglar who uses alchemy to perpetrate her heists and the brothers are drawn into the investigation to stop her but they end up learning that not everything is black and white. The final two episodes see the brothers investigate a lead on someone researching the Philosophers Stone but instead find town of sick people and a pair of brothers impersonating them so that they can continue their fathers work. This volume of Fullmetal Alchemist continues to produce interesting and thoughtful episodes and it goes without saying this is a must for anyone who liked the previous volumes.
