Ex-Girlfriends is a group brought together by Leonard Cohen's son Adam. It has got a great range of songs on it some funny some sad some bitter and twisted. Anybody who has been in a relationship, been dump will relate to this album. Just a shame that music of this quality does not get the airplay it deserves.
I bought Adam Cohen's newest album 'Like a Man' but didn't like it anywhere near as much as this album where he sings with a band. It's worth buying just for 'Diary' and 'Money Thing' which sound awesome!
I stumbled across the group Low millions through a friend who lives abroad and recommended i listen to a couple of their songs. I fell in love immediately and they spent days on repeat day and night.
If i were to compare them with any band on the English market I would choose Keane. It's not so tame and piano based but most of their songs share that easy to listen to feel. They are a bit more rocky than Keane though!
The music on this album (as the name suggests) is inspired by ex-girlfriends. Only one or two songs are really weird and are skipped over when i listen to the album properly but the rest are spot on!
My fav's are Eleanor, Here she comes, Mockingbird, Julia, Low millions, hey Jane and 100 blouses. The rest tend to be ok except for Diary and Money thing which are strange and of the 'either you like it or you dont' genre.
A band to look out for. With luck they'll break through into the UK market.
