This is where it all started with lots of fine tracks that were later covered by many other artists like The Louvin Brothers,Merle Travis,Tennessee Ernie Ford etc.The Delmore Brothers first recorded in October 1931 when Rabon was only 14.(He was born December 1916).They were on the Grand Ole Opry every week from 1933 and must have influenced the other brother acts that copied them, like the Monroe brothers, and the Blue Sky Boys, both groups didnt record until 1936!!! If Rabon had played a mandolin instead of the tenor guitar The Delmore Brothers would probably have been called the first of the bluegrass groups. Instead they were crowded out by all the many Brother duets that sprang up after them, only louder! That maybe why these early recordings are somewhat overlooked. They have a gentle soft charm and beautiful harmonies. These recordings are where it all started.
