O.K. First couple tracks are your'e typical R&B concept, but come track 6 you talking a whole 'nother level."If I Ain't Got You" is, without a doubt, THE best soul tune this year.Of course those of you who witnessed Ms.Keys performing it LIVE on Jonathan Woss' show a few weeks back know this already and have gone out and bought the album already, unconcerned as to whether the rest of the CD is up to this quality.Hey! If you dont dig the rest of the album , just set your player to repeat track 6 twelve times and you won't be disapointed you had to shell out a tenner for one tune.

The album is fantastic, if like soul/funk/rnb then enjoy.
Alicia is brilliant, a great voice which changes for each track, something which keeps the music fresh and shows great talent. She sings with emotion and plays the piano superbly.
Like other reviewers I agree that the first half of the album is better than the 2nd half, but it has enough great tracks to make this CD essential.

buy the single CD version without the DVD, as it has the extra track Streets Of New York, with Nas and Rakiem on it, it is mentioned in all published reviews, yet is not included in this version, for some strange reason...
it is great overall though!

The follow up to " Songs in A Minor " shows that Alicia Keys is not going to sit on her laurels , and bask in the glory of her debut album . A fine offering , and an indication that there is more good stuff to come this talented songwriter .
