So it's the Louisiana Hayride live recordings again. Yet again. However, this European Disky version has great artwork, superb sound quality and liner notes by Todd Slaughter of the OEPFC. It's even topped off with 3 rare and fascinating interviews from 1956. The last of them (Little Rock, Arkansas interview 1956) includes the radio show "Assignment" with Bill McNeal and Maria Barrett. The presenters chat and the show introduction are included and all in quality that sounds like it was broadcast yesterday. Bill and Maria are hardly flattering in their opinions of the show's build-up (but give Elvis a fair time) and it gives us a great flavour of the controversy that surrounded Elvis during the early 50s. An interview with Elvis from Ottawa rounds off this track. Absolutely fascinating! A superb release and well worth picking up.
