Jess Franco's Sadomania is here presented in all its glory. Be warned though, this is not erotica but pure sleaze. This is probably the most notorious of the prison sexploitation sub-genre.

A couple on their honeymoon trespass on some penitentiary land. The husband is allowed to go but his wife is held captive. Eventually he comes back to rescue her. Cue lots of action; loads of partial and full nudity, with some women who can't keep their hands off each other. Some are given the chance to escape so that they can be hunted down and shot (cue wobbling boobs and bums). Some of the women are sold into prostitution while others are used by the governor's wife as playthings.

The governor is sexually dysfunctional much to the chagrin of his wife, who wants a baby. When an inmate is chained naked to a chair and a dog allowed to ravish her, he finds that he can perform for his wife. With some hetero and lots of lesbian sex, bestiality and cat fights and killings this film is fun to watch. Be warned, it is dated, has an awful soundtrack and dodgy acting but it is still highly watchable. Inspired by Italian adult comic books of the period it still holds its appeal and is more or less nowadays a curio from the past. Also included is an interview with Jess Franco.

TOP 1000 REVIEWERon 15 September 2015
This 1981 women in prison film [aka Hellhole Women, Prisoners of the Flesh or Sadomania: The Hell of Passion] starts with newlyed couple Michael [Angel Caballero] and wife Olga [Uta Koepke] taking a back road and trespassing onto the lands of a private ‘hard labour’ prison run by the stunning and evil Warden Magda [Ajita Wilson]. Imprisoning Olga, Magda lets hubby go free and sets Olga to work with the other women. The film has a number of sub plots but the question is, will hubby return to save his wife and what will become of her in the meantime?
The sub plots are ‘decent’ enough; Governor Mendoza [Robert Foster] and his bi sexual wife Luwa [Gina Jansen] want a baby, but he only gets aroused having sex with the inmates. Magda has a nice little sideline selling girls into white slavery or using them as quarry in her human ‘hunting’ trips –if the whim suits her. Yet, this isn’t sure what direction to go in. Despite it’s subject matter, it’s not serious enough to be taken seriously, doesn’t have the humour to be a comedy, and isn’t even erotic as the ’sex’ scenes are so mechanically acted. The film is an unashamed sleazy sexploitation soft core porn flick despite all the ‘artistic’ drivel and seems more like a late 60’s early 70’s throwback. The women may be beautiful, but acting isn’t generally on their resume –but in the end, who really cares? It’s a beer and popcorn late night fantasy view in the best sleaze tradition.
Ultimately the original script was meant to be part of the ‘Ilsa’ sexploitation series so if you can cope with beautiful women running around topless in skimpy tight shorts or completely naked uttering ridiculous sentences in a badly acted manner, this will be just your sort of film. If you’re looking for a deep and meaningful plot filled with erotic scenes, or ‘torture porn’ stay clear. Ajita’s filmography in the extras will prove to be a definite eye opener for those who do not know of her [watch it after viewing the film for an added twist -especially if watching with mates!].

I liked this trashy piece of work, lots of gorgeous girls half naked all the time and a mad plot with bad dialogue. If you like a good old prison yarn that is as predictable as a swiss watch then this is for you. A great late night unwinder that just might get you going!!!!

I bought the full version of this film for a £5, only thing is it is a tedious viewing experience. It could have been enlivened with a few hardcore inserts. A tool Jesus Franco often employs when his action flags, like it does during the entire movie.

My advice would be stay clear of this title. A decent Franco film is Faceless. A Good performance from Brigitte Lahaie as a loopy nurse.

That this DVD keeps on the same winning track of the other Blue Underground releases, it goes without saying. But the best extra, undoubtely, is the lenghty and informative text bio on Ajita Wilson, written by brazilian journalist Sergio Martorelli. It may as well be one of the, if not THE best essay on that elusive, badly-documented performer.
