After owning and listening repeatedly to Collides last offering Chasing the Ghost i was really excited about this their new release. Well i have been bowled over again, this really is a stunning master piece. Their style of effortlessly combining dark gothic smoltering beats with Karins haunting and peaceful vocals with brilliant lyrics makes this a must have. The tracks all offer new surprises with so many layers you have to listen to all of them so many times. My personal favourites are Euphoruia, tempted and shimmer. These three stand out as beauiful crafted songs above all the other masterpieces. I think this album is just as accessable as last if you like this dark wave type of music. So if you havn't got it what are you waiting for. Its a great purchase and a great mellow laid back cd to relax to.

While one shouldn't judge an album by its cover, this CD by Hollywood's Collide looks so gorgeous I wanted desperately for the music to be as sumptuous as the packaging. Thankfully the attention paid to the sleeve is equalled, if not exceeded, by the quality of the music.
We've seen duos featuring a sensuous female singer and mysterious man playing the instruments before, though Collide are more Curve than The Eurythmics. In particular the electronics on 'Crushed' suggests the former band during their more melodic moments. Collide uses synthesisers to create opulent soundscapes mixed with the occasional acoustic guitar or live drums.
Advertising executives should be on the phone begging to use the delightfully-titled 'Slither Thing' to promote something expensive and classy. It's Morcheeba with extra sophistication. Meanwhile there are subtle Eastern influences on 'Tempted' which wouldn't sound out of place in a Bond movie. Elsewhere singer kaRIN gives a clue as to what Portishead's Beth Gibbons might have sounded like if she had grown up in North Hollywood rather than the West Country.
Collide are so polished they even thank the people that do their clothes, hair and make up on the sleeve. There are many rich atmospheres captured on this album and you should definitely treat yourself, I think you deserve it.

Calling all Darkwave fans; this one is for you. Nobody with a flair for the exotic gothic-type alternative should have a music collection going without. The phrase 'creative genius' springs to mind. The lyrics, vocals & music compliment one another perfectly.

Very nice music to relax to. Worth adding to any alternative music collection. Mutation, Crushed and Complicated are the strongest songs for me :-) Check these guys out!
