Nice Idea, sadly flawed
on 8 March 2004
I bought this camera because it had all the features I required in a digital camera - it's small, has optical zoom, reasonable pixel count, takes video footage and is affordable.
Firstly, the good points. It is small enough to carry around anywhere, without being obtrusive. It is fairly intuitive. It is quick to switch on and take a photo. All interaction with the SD card is quick. The video footage is very good, no time limit and the video quality is better than I was getting from my Ixus II.
There is, however, a bad point. The pictures I have taken on this camera are very grainy. Despite having more pixels than my previous camera (Canon Ixus II), the pictures look much worse, when shown at the same size.
It could be that I was unlucky and bought a dud, and that the camera is uaually fine. However, I used to carry my old digital camera everywhere until it broke, now I no longer take my camera anywhere as I know I'll be disappointed with the pictures.
