Astoundingly bad sound, amazing music.
on 24 August 2011
The sound on most of the tracks, including the better known ones, is OK, but appalling on a few others, which makes the whole thing unlistenable - not surprising for an CD this cheap. However, the songs are so brilliant that I have to have them. "Myrmidons of Melodrama" got a big thumbs up for sound from P J Ashwell, so...
Baby boomers will know more of these songs than they expect. Apart from the usual suspects (Remember, Leader of the Pack, I Can Never Go Home Anymore & Past, Present and Future), I remembered (and love) Give Him a Great Big Kiss, Give Us Your Blessings & Long Live Our Love, which seems to reference the Vietnam War.
"Myrmidons of Melodrama" is well-titled. Irrespective of sound quality, these songs are deliciously over-the-top.
