This is the band that Napalm Death obviously discovered prior to creating 'SCUM' and 'FROM ENSLAVEMENT...' this is superb. No time wasted, not disappointments, just pure aggression and pure speed from start to finish with a raw and angry vocal more brutal than any of the later bands, this is the guttural growl of an angry man backed by an angry guitar-wielding mob. This is an ESSENTIAL purchase for any fan of the early Napalm Death and Terrorizer material.
Lets get one thing straight. Repulsion pretty much defined the genres of heavy rock music we know (and love) as Death metal and Grind. Their influence is immeasurable, yet they never received any lable interest until after they split-up. There are eighteen tracks, and each is bearely over two minutes. This has it all, if you're a death metal fan: blistering blast-beats; sick lyrics (growled of course); demented fuzz-base intros, and all at break-neck speed! This re-issue contains a bonus disk of unreleased material, which is arranged in a way that it displays their development into the twisted best that recorded "Horrified". Not for fans of Britney Spears, but this Re-issue is a absolute must-have for fans of extreme-metal!
Repulsion? Celtic Frost met Discharge, fell down some stairs bumped into Slayer at the bottom where they were doused in irradiated sewage and given a beating by Venom and Possessed and then thrown into a dumper truck with a bunch of Black Flag and Minor Threat tapes in it.Then they got mad and drank a whole bunch of extra strong coffee and nachos and sat down to watch Dawn of the Dead again. There you have it,Repulsion.
This album (with new and extended demos and live offerings) is special. A defining moment in the world of death and grindcore (and everything in between). The beginings proper if you like of these two genres (lets not forget Chuck Shuldiner and Death as well). Lets not talk about arrangements, and tuning and all that technical rubbish. This album is about getting up and banging your head as hard and as fast as you possibly can ! Its got a character all of its own, and blasts its way through 1 and 2 minute songs with hellish abandon. Fans of Early Napalm Death and Carcass will love this cd. A nice touch is the booklet notes (depending on if you like this sort of info) giving quick but concise reasons why particular tunes sound the way they do. Buy this cd if you like blasting, gore soaked, fuzz bassed, Slayer tinted death/ grind mayhem. It will not dissapoint. Buy a piece of history and let it blow your ear drums out!
