Sunshine State isn't perfect, but then a flawed John Sayles film is still better than almost anything else American cinema has to offer. The script is a gem... witty and razor-sharp, and yet so well-written that the dialogue still seems utterly natural. The cast is terrific, led by the wonderful Edie Falco, and Sayles has a fine old time exploring some of his favorite themes, most notably society's uneasy relationship with its past, and its attempts to sanitise or 'Disney-fy' history and transform it into 'heritage'; the film's Bucaneer Pageant is absolutely spot-on. But the ending seems rushed, and far too pat; the seemingly unstoppable march of progress halted in its tracks by a too-timely intervention from the past. Never mind. Just sit back and enjoy the ride, again and again.

I really enjoyed this movie. The acting is superb, and is unlike any other movie I've seen.

I like the way that the movie simply tells the stories of the residents of Florida in this way.

Very talented director and actors. Brilliant.
