Morning Sci-fi will forever remain one of my favourite albums of all time, for it's maturity it's edge & mood, and it's selection of tracks, Gravastar / Celebrity Science, the first release from the album back in 2002 is a masterpiece in it's own right.
Fusing two brilliant contrasting tracks, Gravastar with a house feel, and Celebrity Science on the breakbeat tip Hybrid create two songs that excel in the world of dance music.
First up is Gravastar (The full version) it's almost 8 minutes of rolling sci-fi sounds and euphoric atmospheres, weaving solid house beat sounds and both uplifting and depressing melodies, Hybrid create a track equally dance floor oriented and just something you can sit and listen too.
It's the pain staking attention to detail here that makes Gravastar a Hybrid masterpiece.
Next up is the bangin' Celebrity Science, dark basslines growl over one of Hybrids finest breakbeat productions to create a screaming dance floor stormer, the deep and haunting drop half way through the track brings in light choral touches and moody basslines before the techy, almost techno tinged melodies and beats jump back in and tear the place apart, also of note is the turntable-esque (Though I don't think it's real deck mixing)
drop where Hybrid rip the groove apart with sounds, noises and beats flying all around the place like they have just been released from an open blender- AWESOME stuff.
Overall Hybrid really hit the spot with this release, and with the total running tome of these two tracks together at nearly 18 full minutes, it is definite value for you hard earned buck, and remember, quality not quantity.
also check out Visible noise / Know your enemy- equally as great!!!

finding wider angle was like a breath of fresh air, after years listening to orbital and the like i was in need of something new and it fitted the bill perfectly, since that release in 2000 i have been waiting for new hybrid tracks to come along and found this the other day...
Gravastar is a mellow bouncy blend that sounds like a typical hybrid tune, although good its maybe not up to some of the original hybrid tracks..
however after hearing celebrity science, i have to say this is one of the best tunes i have heard in many years, its nothing like the hybrid that i have heard before, but has a certain inteligence about it, a great buildup all the way through untill you hit the middle with a sweeping mellow stage, again building and adding to the end of the track.. great stuff.
this will be one of the cds in my car for along while to come, or untill at least someone betters it which in my opinion will take some doing. Had gravastar had the spark of celeb science this would recieve 5 stars without a doubt, both great tunes and its worth buying just for the second track if you ask me.

This is a fantastic new track. Rather than stay with tried and tested formula of W.A. they have taken the basic sound that is hybrid and changed it into something new. I wouldn't say this song is better than any thing off the first album, but it is different and feels heavier. I'm looking forward to the new album to see how far they have evolved.
