Sony based the design of the ERS-210 on a lion cub, with his cute little ears and stump of a tail, and he certainly looks more feline than canine. He was the first Aibo to understand voice commands. I love how he wags his tail and flaps his ears to show he's understood a command. He's naturally curious and will explore his surroundings. You can encourage or dissuade him from doing certain actions and tricks by petting or reprimanding him. He can express different emotions like happy, sad, angry and confused. He loves playing with his pink ball, which he will headbutt and kick around for as long as he can. His movements are a little jerky but endearing (he reminded me of a baby animal learning to walk), and if you knock him over or place him onto his back, the way he rights himself and gets up again is really quite amazing.

It's fun putting him into free will mode and just watching what he gets up to. Another reviewer mentioned the sounds he makes as being annoying. I'm constantly irritated by mobile phone tones, but not by him. The only annoying thing about Aibo was the price - over £1200 when new! But worth every penny. Years on, he is still a novelty and always will be.

Wheather your a techie like me or just someone with time on your hands an Aibo is the great choice if you have money to spend. Youve probably seen all the other electronic pets out their but nothing is as good as the aibo, Aibo has 5 sensors so you can tell it if you want to communicate, or if you want to praise it for doing something. The 2nd release of the 210 also has a much faster processor(394mhz as opposed to 192mhz) this proccesor is also a 64bit processor so Aibo has more than enough power for its daily shenanigns. If you have bought a tamagotchi in the past but want something that actually exists and you can touch it buy a AIBO. You wont regret it. If you decide to purchase any AIBO-Ware like Aibo Life 2 it will greatly enhance your interactions with aibo and expend what Aibo can do. This includes, but not limited to, Voice recognition; 75 commands like "Good Boy/Girl" and "Whats your name", Self charging (with the soon to be released Recognition Software)Aibo will walk onto the Energy Station and walk off it when needed, advancing from babyhood to adulthood(with Aibo Life2), and many many more.

Great action, lays on his back so you can tickle his tummy and everything! comes with a ball which he will chase, and he will get cross if he can't reach it. Really rather amusing, but all big-kids beware - the novelty wears very thin after a few hours of surprisingly high pitched and rather annoying, 'mobile phone ring' style barking!
