The movie is outstanding, stunning gunplay, great acting and a good story. Chow Yun Fat and Danny Lee are amazing and I believe that it's John Woo best film but not my personal favourite (Hard Boiled), however I would enjoy it more if it wasn't for that ending.
One nitpick though (like really small), in the deleted scenes the characters speak Mandrain rather than Cantonese. Also SPOILERS the ending is so sad that nobody wins or succeed in their goal, Ah Jong tragicly dies, Jenny doesn't have the money for a new retina for her eye and Detective Lee is captured by the police (as you can tell I don't like sad endings)

The gunfights look great but sound like cack thanks to the puny sound effects. CYF's nemesis feels miscast and CYF himself is a bit wooden here. Editing is terrible with countless instances of 'Tetris transition' where prior to the next scene beginning the last frame of the previous scene remains frozen and drops down. The Killer is nowhere near the level of polish or intensity of Hard Boiled.

Great movie, lot of thrills and bangs and for the faint hearted be warned there is gore too. A finger been severed and someone shot in the eye. So not for these with weak stomach.

It was a good movie in it's time and now, just a collector's item. It's not great anymore as seen better!

The film is a hong Kong classic with all the John Woo traits. (Slow-motion gun fights, white doves, etc). However, the DVD cover shown is the original release but, the one I received was part of a Hong Kong legends series and is very cheap and nasty by comparison, which was quite disappointing.
