This CD covers Lonnie first 5 albums as a leader on the flying dutchman label, after he left Pharoah Sanders and had played with Mile Davis. As such, it covers the Astral Travelling period right up to the funky dance numbers. All numbers are tasteful, although it took me a few listenings to appreciate the two dance numbers. If you aren't sure which point in Lonnie's progression you are interested in, buy this. Lonnie did many spacy, calming numbers, lyrics are great, as are the vocals, with flute and sax. If you like Lonnie, buy the 5 CD box for around 10 pounds, it's well worth it. This Intro is the condensed version. For sure, the louder the better.

I gave this to my partner as an intro to the work of this man. It is a good start to understanding the general scope of the work although it lacks the psychadelic continuity of his albums and includes the dire 'World Peace' anthem. Worth a try if you are not familiar, otherwise steer clear.
