UFC Tapout is the most impressive fighting game I have seen to date. With over 25 real UFC fighetrs, who all have different skills, abilities, moves, and strategies it makes the one player modes extremely fun to play. Whats best about the game is the ability to simply pick it up and play. It uses only four main buttons that when pressed sepertaely each do a different punch or kick, or when variations (e.g two at a time) are pressed you can grapple your opponent to the ground, do a devastating submission or escape from tapping out. Matches may not last long at first, but once you have learned the basics you can have some serious fun.
The graphics in the game are tremendous. The entrances are flawless with such detail that it looks like real life, and the crowd are the best I've ever seen. The in game graphics are also brilliant with the characters looking ultra realistic and the character movement is so real it's scary.
There are also quite a few different modes to play on. An arcade mode when one player simply has to defeat as many opponents as he can in a row. The UFC mode, which is an elimination tournament where you have up to three fights, but need to save energy or you'll find your in the final with a no change in hell. A tournament mode which allows one or two players to create their own UFC tournament, or an exibition mode which is simply single matches for one or two players. There is also a create-a-fighter mode, which although isn't very detailed, and doesn't allow as much creativity as perhaps are available on such games like WWF Smackdown, it's still a nice addition to the game.
UFC Tapout has all of the characteristics of a brilliant game, and yes it even has blood. It is a simple game where two men enter a octagon shaped cage with no rules and the only way a match can be won is through knockout or submission. Playing the game on your own is great fun but playing it with friends is even better. Whether your a fan of WWF style wrestling games or DOA 3 style beat em'ups you will love this game and would be crazy not to buy it.

This has the potential to be a great game the only thing holding it back is that there isnt enough to it, all you do is see how many people you can beat up in a row until you lose....and thats it.... the controls are good with a fair amount of moves but it is just too repetetive, you will only play it a few times before you are bored.

Being a big UFC fan and having previously owned other UFC titles on ps1 and dreamcast i wasn't expecting much from tapout as other UFC games have been disappointing to say the least. However when i first got my xbox i managed to get this cheap so i thought i'd give it a go. i have to say i was pleasantly surprised with this game as the fighters are very realistic and follow the exact characteristics of their real life counterparts and the matches follow the patterns of real UFC bouts (this is not always a good thing as the matches are usually short and can be over in seconds).
The game modes are varied and have a create a fighter option, tournament mode and UFC mode but are not all great as they can soon become repetetive. Is this the only negative? I'd be lying if i said it was as there are other minor niggles throughout the game such as... you can win most matches by simply standing up and punching rather than taking it to the ground and grappling.
Overall i'd recommend this to fans of UFC or beat-em-up's as it is probably the most realistic fighter out there. so if you can pick it up cheap it's certainly worth giving it a go, and for UFC fans i'd have to say this is a must.
