This is the third disc of Stevie Wishart's project to record the music of Hildegard von Bingen, 12th century nun and polymath. Once again Wishart has assembled an accomplished and assured team of vocalists, and pleasingly she once again plays hurdy-gurdy as accompaniment to some of the tracks, a feature sadly missing from the second disc, but stepping down from vocal duties. Instrumental accompaniment is also provided here for some tracks by a positive organ, played by Richard Vendome. The two instruments combine very effectively on the last track for a rapturous climax.
The accompanying booklet provides historical and musical notes, including individual notes to accompany the Latin text and translation for each piece.
