Stacey Kent has a voice like velvet and her phrasing is comparable only to Sinatra. However, I found "Dreamsville" a disappointment - not because of the wonderful arrangements but rather the selection of tracks, which were ALL slow numbers with no up-tempo tracks to rescue the melancholic mood. Also the wonderful sax playing of Jim Thompson wasn't as evident as it is on Ms Kent's previous releases, which I really missed.
Although masterpieces in their own right, I found the tracks ensemble to be rather too "nightclubby" and quite self-indulgent. I am afraid that "Dreamsville" will only get a few outings on my CD player unlike "Let Yourself Go", which I have worn out! Please, please lighten up next time Stacey!
