I'm keen on true story movies - and I found this one totally absorbing. The acting, camera work, and direction are fine, so the result is as good as any big-budget movie. It tells the true story of the religious community in Texas that went horribly awry in the early 90's - I remember it being on The News. At the time, the authorities became concerned about the community, and they attempted to storm the complex of buildings. They got more than they bargained for - the combination of : strong religious beliefs; a charismatic leader; and American gun-culture resulted in a huge shoot-out. This particular scene is filmed very convincingly - it's like gunfight at the OK Corral with automatic rifles. The film provides quite an insight into the mind of the community leader - David Koresh - and his charismatic control of the community. I'm not against religious belief - I'm a believer myself - but this movie shows what can happen if belief loses touch with reality - and it shows what can happen if leadership is about control and manipulation. It's rather a shame that the film stops after the first shoot-out - there was more to the story - a long stand-off that ended up disastrously - and with huge loss of life. This film is sobering viewing - it's a warning, really - but it's well worth seeing.

one of the best and worst stories, ever. best because it is an awesome true story. worst because it shows the American law enforcement system, for what it truly is, a gun happy, murder incorporated, gun for hire, do as we please and to hell with America and the rest of the world, group of crazed, sadistic, sickos. i love the film and it arrived quickly and in perfect condition..

As this video's title suggests the film is tells the story of the Waco incident from the point of view of the ATF and the FBI. By focusing on the accusations against Koresh and portraying the authorities as largely blameless in the events leading up to the seige it creates a somewhat lopsided version of what happened. The fact that it was produced so quickly after the event also suggests that perhaps its prime function is of a piece of establishment propaganda. As subsequent investigations have suggested the truth, as ever, was far more complex. Having said all of that Daly turns in a magnificient performance as the decidely unstable Koresh. The film focusses on the events leading up to the seige and certainly manages to hold the interest and works on a very visceral level in engaging the emotions/thought in questioning the morl judgements made by both sides. Watching this video followed by the documentary "Rules of Engagement" really does make the thinking person condsider the political and social power of the media. Watch out for Star Trek's "Seven of Nine" in a previous incarnation.

This was a great film that I watched years ago, plus the fact that it arrived many days early which was a bonus.
A good film to watch if you are interested in the process of brain washing vulnerable people as did the origonal person who this film is based on.
Thank you

quite an interesting account of the siege and subsequent events
people can become influenced by leaders who have powers of
oratory. we remember the jonestown suicides.
the gun laws being lax in the us will encourage such massacres
as recently as the schools
