I can't help wondering what the original composers would think of these rather radical reworkings of their masterpieces. Actually I think they would enjoy them very much. The humour, warmth, wit and keen musical intelligence that has characterized Loussier's Bach interpretations ever since 1959 is very much in evidence here, too. No one compares to Bach, of course, but it is obvious that tackling these other great (and some perhaps not quite so great) Baroque masters was an inspiring challenge to Loussier and his sidemen. This is great fun, but with some depth too. Another winner.
