Lara's Pure cd from 2001 probably shows Lara's writing and recording talents at there best, and which went on to produce her two live cd/dvd's, Live 2002[Dec 2001] and En toute inimite [Feb 2003].
Nue is a cd comprising sounds which conjures up two very different scenes for me.The first scene comprising the songs Rio, Aimer deja, S'en aller, Silence, Tango, Imagine, Immortelle, and the J'y crois encore. These 8 songs seem to mix the sound of Toto's Africa with the compositions of Karl Jenkins[Songs of sanctuary etc]and transport the listener to an imaginery island off the coast of Brazil.Where Lara can be found diving for pearls and dancing the samba, all 8 songs are true AOR gems.To be seen in Nue'live 2002'[stadium tour]cd/dvd.
The second scene, created by the remaining songs,is not warm or sunny, instead a cold wind ,not a trade winds blows and Lara takes you to to an imaginery theatre in Paris.Where she can be found stood next to a piano, dressed in black ,on a dark stage, she has her hand placed on the piano where moments earlier a Ballet dancer had theirs.
This is 'En toute intimite'the cd/dvd ,no imagination is required, because Lara new exactly where this cd 'Nue' would lead, sur scene[on stage].The songs are beautiful ,while the dvd is a captivating delight[classical quality],where Chopin meets chanson.Let the nocturnes begin .Nue is a very very good cd ,with added extras which are too good to miss,'En toute intimite'dvd, wow, like, wow really!!!!.

It was always going to be difficult to match, let alone beat the brilliance of her Pure album but Lara Fabian has certainly given it a good try!

Lara has set very high standards in my opinion (not just with Pure but with her two English albums as well), and Nue is certainly not an average follow up to Pure. It is certainly very decent and to be fair, I'm better off for owning it. All of the tracks on the album apart from Imagine are a credit to Lara's high standard and as always, she performs most of the songs with all the passion and desire she can give. The adaptabilty of her voice makes the album interesting to listen to and her clarity (at either end of her voice pitch) is outstanding. 'J'y Crois Encore' and 'Silence' are on the Wonderful Life album as 'I've Cried Enough' and 'Silence' respectively, and this to me shows that Lara can translate her French songs into English and keep the sound & feel of the song very similar (which is something Celine Dion failed to do when two of her songs from D'eux were translated into English for the Falling Into You album), therefore keeping the character of the songs in tact. After hearing the French & English versions of these two songs, I will say that Lara has done this extremely well.

As mentioned earlier, Imagine is the only track I'm not keen on because it is mostly Lara speaking with background music (and occasional singing), and I don't find music like this very inspiring. Immortelle goes on a bit at the end but is otherwise a good song and to be fair, I think these are the only faults with the album. From a personal point of view, I prefer the more traditional sound of Pure to Nue's more modern edge.

Although Nue falls short of Pure's standards, it's still good enough to prove that Lara produces quality albums consistently and I would certainly recommend it.

This recent album, featuring the superb hit 'Immortelle' among its 13 tracks, shows Lara's voice in truly great form, and the songs are almost all memorable. In short a fantastic album! Other very fine songs here include 'Aimer déjà' and 'Bambina' and there's also a great duet ('Tu es mon autre') which Lara sings with Maurane.
Very recently some of these songs have appeared on a live album (and DVD) where Lara's stage presence is electrifying, but it could be said that the audience seems to know the songs a bit too well since they join in (I don't blame them - but...). So, for the ideal studio versions of some great music, don't miss 'Nue' - buy it in fact! - and then maybe try the new live DVD (it came out in France in December 2002).
